Currently, the situation of violence, militarization and impunity are some of the main causes that force the Salvadoran population to move. In this section we present you with information and resources about the context of human mobility in El Salvador.

The situation of violence, militarization and impunity that marks the current context of El Salvador, seriously impacts the guarantee of human rights in the country. The high indices of human mobility made it in 2018 the sixth country of origin of the largest number of applicants for international protection in the world, in addition to a high percentage of internally displaced persons. Its policies to strengthen the defence forces and militarization, as well as the absence of comprehensive responses for the care of people in mobility, have led to a series of challenges for the guarantee of human rights.
